Abruzzo – and Italy

Life in Abruzzo

Abruzzo’s certainly not short of websites devoted to promoting its own unique character. But there some real stand-outs.

For an eclectic and wide-scale view of the region, check out Life in Abruzzo, which has a green heart and a social conscience.

Italian Reflections

Italian Reflections is a huge depository of knowledge – with masses of links – about holidaying and living in Italy, with special emphasis on the Piedmont region, which among its many attractions has one of Italy’s best food-and-wine cultures – both well-represented here.

Good social network presence too with lively, invitation-only group on Facebook.

Italy Chronicles

Casting the net wider in the shape of an all-embracing take on the many shades of Italian life and culture is Alex Roe’s Italy Chronicles - a good example of what happens when a labour of love also happens to be a great idea with broad appeal.

Here’s a rich, newsy source of insider information, anecdote, reviews, opinion, gossip and entertainment. It’s like having a good English-language newspaper exclusively about Italy.

Expats in Italy Before we moved here, we had a loads of questions about what living in Italy was actually like. We found the books that try to provide the answers were utterly useless, so were delighted to discover Expats in Italy which is a fount of endless knowledge and wisdom on all aspects of Italian life.
Andrew Waddington Our friends Andrew and Becky are busy with a restoration project in Mannopello – but Andrew somehow also still has time to produce wonderful woodcuts and lithographs, many depicting Abruzzo wildlife and countryside.

Abruzzo Property

Where to Buy in Italy

Before we settled on this particular part of Abruzzo, a site we wished we’d seen earlier to help us make our choice is Where To Buy In Italy run by UK-based journalist Fleur Kinson.

It’s easily the most clear-eyed, realistic guide we’ve come across.

Where to go in Italy

And not content with running this website, Fleur also looks after the equally comprehensive Where To Go In Italy which’ll help you plan your Italian holiday.

It’s a vast step up in scope and quality from the usual Rome-Florence-Venice axis with which too many travel sites start and end.

Abruzzo Project

After deciding to live in Abruzzo, the task then was to sift through a mixture of good, bad, indifferent (and one or two downright dishonest) estate agencies.

We then looked at 96 properties (yes, really) before finding the acre of Abruzzo countryside that was to become Villasfor2 through Abruzzo Project run by Gianmarco Poli. We’re very happy to recommend him.

Abruzzo Holidays

Away Without the Kids As you know, Villasfor2 is a kids-free zone offering Abruzzo holidays just for couples. We think that if just the two of you have decided to take a holiday without kids, you shouldn’t have to share your time here with other people’s. It’s a belief others share. Take a look at Away Without the Kids - primarily UK-based getaways, but with an increasing number of recommended overseas locations too. Like us !
My start guide

The term ‘one stop shop’ is a bit overused, but for My Start Guide, it’s as accurate as you can get.

This site should be your first port of call for any travel-related web-search – from flights to hotels; from car rental to insurance; from reviews to guides.

My Holiday Rentals If all this makes you want to book your Abruzzo holiday at Villasfor2, then follow this link for more – See our holiday homes 426765 on HomeAway Holiday-Rentals. There you’ll find separate entries for our Villas Acquaviva, Pesco Falcone and La Majelletta – and  reviews from previous guests

And Finally…

webSEOlive

Much as we’d like to pretend otherwise, the Villasfor2 website didn’t just ‘happen’.

Thanks to Sammy Dunham and Roddy Newlands and their excellent part-UK/part-Abruzzo-based consultancy webSEOlive, our website exists; looks good; and works well. Can’t ask for much more than that really…
