Abruzzo Property
A House in Italy – Living the Italian Dream
It took us seven trips; about twenty different estate agents; and 96 (yes, 96) viewings before we eventually found the Abruzzo property we were looking for.
But it took no time at all to realise the Italy property market was very different to anything we’d experienced before – and that it was an area potentially open to some very expensive mistakes.
Despite books or research that might lead you to think buying a house in Italy is straightforward – think again. It isn’t.
The legal process by which an Italy property changes hands is entirely different to what we’d previously experienced in the UK – and there are probably significant differences too from wherever else you currently live.
The rules governing any Italy property purchase are different for EU and non-EU citizens; and the costs of property-buying – and owning – will vary depending on whether you’re planning to permanently relocate to Italy, or are just looking for a holiday home.
The Italian dream can all too easily turn into a nightmare.
Help’s At Hand !
While we’d never claim expertise regarding the differences in the property market across Italy, we do know our own corner of Abruzzo well.
Through personal contacts, we’re able to put you in touch with private sellers of property and land in and around the lovely town of Orsogna – and we can recommend a couple of property professionals elsewhere too.
We found the Abruzzo property destined to become Villasfor2 thanks to Gianmarco Poli, his wife Martina, and their agency Abruzzo Project which is based within walking distance of us. It’s no exaggeration to say we couldn’t have negotiated our way through the tangle of rules, regulations and bureaucracy that surround building restoration work here without their help.
Gianmarco operates under the slogan, “Your House in Italy from Concept to Completion”, which is a pretty fair way of summing-up what he can offer. He’s got an interesting portfolio of local property and uses an English building team here, which instantly removes all language barriers. It’s a service we can highly recommend.
Where Do We Come In ?
If you’re staying at Villasfor2 at any stage of your Abruzzo property hunt, we’ll be more than happy to discuss our own experiences with you – both good and bad – and answer any questions you have.
This will help give you the clearest idea of what to expect – and the costly pitfalls you can avoid.
Once your project’s underway, if you want to visit Abruzzo regularly to see how it’s all going, we’ll work out an accommodation schedule for you here at the best possible rates.
And we’ll be very happy to give you names and numbers from our own Contacts Book for everything you might need during your own property-buying project, from a lawyer – to where you can buy a kitchen sink !
