Villasfor2 Guest Book - 2010

Read our Abruzzo villa reviews from guests who stayed here in 2010...

(We were midweek guests at David and Pauline's Villasfor2. They live at the end of the world, but it is good with the car. From the airport of Pescara is an hour away. Ryanair fly from Eindhoven to Pescara. You do not get assigned seat, so if you want a good seat and to sit side by side, you better get in Priority Boarding.
In the area of Villasfor2 everything looks perfect. There are 3 houses. Each house has its own area of the terrace. From under your umbrella you have a magnificent view over the hills. Inside you have kitchenette (with oven), lounge area and toilet / shower. Above is the mezzanine is the bed.
It's great to have brunch is the sun with fresh croissants and coffee (there is coffee ready in the house). Then you can relax all day and enjoy the peace. The tractor of an olive farmer is the only thing you hear.
But there is plenty you can do in the local area. You can walk in the surrounding olive groves and explore the little valley. By car are you at the foot of the Majella mountains, with long walks where you can allow or you can go mountain biking. The sea is also within driving distance.
The towns nearby (Casoli, Guardiagrele, Fara San Martino) have beautiful old centers to explore.
We had dinner every night. David and Pauline have a lot of nice restaurants in the area.
Finally Villasfor2 offers excellent value for money. Unlike B & B's, although you get no breakfast, but you have a kitchen and sitting room, the view is beautiful and David & Pauline are very helpful and know the area intimately.)

*****

We very much enjoyed our stay at villasfor2 everything lived up to expectations the views are spectacular and the villa was first class with everything you require for a selfcatering break. Eating out is cheap too.

Thank you David & Pauline we have had a really fantastic time… as regulars to this area we honestly feel that finding Villas for 2 has put the icing on this already impressive cake! We now can't think of a better place to unwind and relax, especially sitting by (or in) the pool staring out at the ever changing mountains and hills, It's been the perfect place for our Abruzzo holiday.

You've created a haven of peace and tranquillity which restores the soul. I will have no hesitation in recommending Villas for 2 to friends and family and know that they will have an equally wonderful time. The Abruzzo region of Italy has so much to offer in the way of great scenery, excellent walking, interesting historic sites, brilliant shopping in the larger towns such as Pescara and fabulous restaurants at great prices… I don’t think we will ever tire of it.

The villas offer everything you need and more for a self catering holiday with great quality fixtures, fittings and furnishings… welcoming touches such as wine, basil and lemons. David & Pauline really have thought of everything, they check in discreetly to ensure your having a great holiday offering hints, tips, directions and sharing their local knowledge…they have obviously worked very hard creating the right balance for a perfect getaway and we are so glad they did!

Please can we come again…

What a great experience! We stayed at these lovely villas for a week and we could not have been happier. Although it was a little difficult to find, once found it was a wonderful part of paradise. David and Pauline were helpful beyond normal with reservations, directions, and just about anything we requested. If you travel to this part of Abruzzo you have to stop at the villas for a stay.

We were looking for a quiet, relaxing break and Villa Pesco Falcone gave us exactly that, very well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
The view from the terrace is a joy to behold and so very peaceful.
The pool is clean and a refreshing distraction from the sunshine.
David and Pauline are great hosts and we found their information and communication second to none. They are always available to offer help, book restaurants or give directions. They have an extensive knowledge of the local area and are able to give accurate, honest information regarding local sights etc.
Abruzzo is 'typically Italian' and has a lot to offer, the Adriatic one way, the mountains the other - there is so much to see if you so desire or just laze by the pool watching the red kites soaring on the thermals -wonderful!
We would not hesitate in recommending Villa Pesco Falcone to others.
We will be back.

A pleasurable stay for 5 nights whilst touring the Abruzzo region. Villas for 2 are conveniently located close to picturesque Casoli and the Majella mountains.
Our hosts David and Pauline ensured a stressless arrival by supplying clear guidance notes on how to find Villas for 2, a welcome pack and personal meet and greeting. Assistance was always on hand with local information and any other needs during our stay.
The light and airy apartment with mezzanine bedroom was tastefully decorated and furnished, with a very comfortable bed and quality shower room fittings. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the olive groves with Casoli beyond, and cooling swims in the well serviced swimming pool will remain fond memories until our next visit. Thanks to David and Pauline for making our visit to Abruzzo so enjoyable.

What an amazing holiday. Everything was truly wonderful - the location, the villa, the people, climate, food and wine. It was a perfect getaway. The villas are beautifully kept, clean and very comfortable with all the little extras that enable you to rest in the villa, cook there if you want to and enjoy total relaxation. We are already missing the most stunning views of the mountains from the villa and of course the views that surround you when you take a dip in the delightful pool which is so refreshing after a day in the hot sun. It is truly breath-taking. The owners, David and Pauline are great! They have managed to balance privacy and great care of their guests perfectly as we were made to feel really special as well as enjoying our own space. Thank you both for your kindness and dedication. It is brilliant to be able to learn more about the area you are staying and gain insider tips on the best places to eat or where to visit. Nothing is too much trouble for David and Pauline.

The location is wonderful - the peace and quiet is just indescribable and yet just a short drive away you can encounter a busy, bustling market in any number of quaint towns and villages. We were even fortunate enough to experience a travelling band of ornately dressed musicians marching through a local village as we enjoyed an espresso. There really is something to suit everyone. If you like tranquility, you'll find it here. If you would like a taste of authentic Italy, you'll find it here. The area is barely touched by tourism which means eating out is extremely reasonable too. A delicious coffee and croissants for 2 in the morning usually came to less than 4 euros and a meal out in the evening with wine usually cost about 30 euros (for 2). If you are more of an active type the area is surrounded by mountains so you have your choice of climbing and then of course there are caves to be explored and lakes with water sports. For me, I just enjoyed the whole experience of this delightful culture - trying to speak some Italian with the ever-patient locals or supping on some delightful local red wine while watching the world go by.

We will definitely be recommending the villas to friends and family (in fact we already have!) and will we be coming back? Well, I've already been looking at when we might next be able to get away. We were truly overwhelmed and loved everything about these gorgeous villas. A fantastic holiday!

Four days at Villasfor2 was a bit like having a sip of a very fine wine - it left us instantly wanting more. Waking up to the breath taking views was the best start to every day. It was simply idyllic. We have never stayed anywhere more relaxing - it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop!
The villas were impeccably clean and finished to a very high standard. David and Pauline had clearly put a lot of thought into the little extras, so we had no need to leave the villa for the first 24hours! Am quite proud that we broke the record for being the fastest openers of the fine Pecorino wine that they presented with :) The pool and sunshine were just delicious and for the first time in our lives, we didn't think or worry about work.
David and Pauline were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, from recommending and booking restaurants (now got to figure out how to lose the pizza weight I gained - but well worth it!) to finding out where we could watch our beloved football team on the television! I have already recommended the experience to several friends - and we only got back last night! Without a doubt, we envisage ourselves making it our regular holiday destination.

A month before our holiday I was very pleased to receive a pack of information from them which not only gave directions to the villa in great detail, but tips on driving in Italy, where to pick up supplies nearby, and other helpful hints and reminders. Having never driven in Italy before, these helped a lot.
On the subject of driving I can certainly recommend the Garmin system for this location, it was a big help. Combined with David’s directions and a backup map we managed extensive exploration of the local area!

Rather than repeat the glowing reports of the clean and tidy villa, lovely pool and so on, I will simply say that I concur.

When we wanted to book restaurant tables, David kindly made reservations for us, even checking with them that they could cater for specific dietary requirements. Whenever we needed advice on an aspect of our stay, whether it was shopping or days out exploring, David and Pauline were very approachable and helped us immensely.

We visited places and saw things we would have found it very difficult to unearth were it not for them. If you want a taste of Italy in its ‘unspoilt’ state, you’ll be in the right place.
Will you be the next guests to be on top of the Majella before 7am?

We were expecting our holiday to be great, but it wasn’t, it was excellent!

Thank you David and Pauline. Chin chin!

We can thoroughly recommend Villas for 2 as a relaxing, peaceful location for couples looking for somewhere off the beaten track and well away from tourist resorts and crowds.

After a reassuring chat with David, prior to our booking, we were emailed detailed directions and helpful hints before our arrival. Inside each villa a most useful welcome book has been complied, which includes useful instructions and places to visit. David and Pauline are perfect hosts, friendly and welcoming and are on hand to give directions and recommend or book restaurants.

The villas are most comfortable, well maintained and extremely well equipped, including thoughtful touches like an umbrella, torch, plasters and a selection of books. The terrace area offers amazing views of the surrounding countryside where you can sit back with a bottle of wine and enjoy opportunities to observe the local wildlife. The pool area is delightful, peaceful and private and well looked after. What more could you want? The photographs and information on the web site say it all!

Thank you David and Pauline for a most enjoyable stay and for making us feel so welcome

(Our experience is that a holiday destination can often be disappointing in reality. But Villas For 2 corresponds exactly to the images you obtain from the information and photos from the websit e. It's new, clean and well cared for. Small, but for the two of you, you do not need a lot more. Great for a stay of several days to one week. Can laze by the pool. The kitchen is equipped to prepare simple meals. It is a quiet place to enjoy one day with a book by the pool. And you can tour around easily. You're half an hour from the beach or the mountains. In the area visiting beautifully restored villages / towns worth, hiking in a desolate area, winding paths through cascades, waterfalls, or visiting caves. Food and drinks are everywhere all delicious. The Italian population is open, friendly and hospitable. David and Pauline are very hospitable and will do everything to make your stay more pleasant without being intrusive.
We had some problems with the address to find the first time partly because our satellite navigation failed and there are no signs to direct you along the way)

(Imagine: you wake up from ... the silence. Get off your bed, walk down the stairs and make coffee in the percolator that's in the house. While you wait until the coffee begins to simmer you sit on the couch with a book and look at the unreal, breathtaking views, a hill here, a little valley there, all olive trees in the distance here and there a collection of houses. On the right mountains and if you look left you will catch a glimpse of the Adriatic Sea. You enjoy your breakfast and delicious coffee while the beautiful swimming pool beckons. It is inevitable: it will soon dive in. In short, the location is great. Abruzzo is still relatively untouched (not yet affected by mass tourism). The villas are nice, neat and clean and well equipped. David and Pauline are perfectionists, it shows in everything. Even their warm welcome and their continued hospitality. With all the questions you can ask them and they make time for a chat. But privacy is also important as they are well aware. We felt very welcome in an environment where everything is held: nature, culture, beaches, mountains. Tip: after a hot day at the pool it's great to take a cool walk in the mountains. Just ask David and Pauline and they'll give you all the necessary information)

Just arrived back in the UK from the most relaxing holiday ever. The views from the pool and your very own terrace are absolutely superb - the photos don't lie. The weather was fantastic, with sunny blue skies every day.
Even though the other two villas were full for part of the time of our holiday, you never felt overcrowded around the pool as there plenty of space for the sun lounges, and most days because everyone did their own thing there was maybe only few hours when all six of us was around the pool.
The owners David and Pauline live in the next property, which is extremely helpful for directions and suggestions for the days activities. Their knowledge of the area is second to none, with every restaurant they suggested being superb and extremely welcoming.
Took a trip up to the mountains, about 50 minute drive along a road with the most superb views. When we got up there we were treated to alpine countryside and gorgeous views. A truly fantastic day.
We also took a day trip to Rome, which David and Pauline organised including booking the coach and informing of us where to get on the bus and what we would expect. They took all the stresses away not just from this trip but from the whole holiday.
My girlfriend and I would suggest this Abruzzo holiday to anyone who wants to relax, explore, and enjoy the true Italian culture!

A good "getaway from it all” haven on a hillside between the mountains and the coast. Good to unwind and chill out. Rustic charm - swimming pool amongst the olive trees,( oil in the kitchen) plenty of space with good sunbeds and umbrellas for all. Clean well equipped air conditioned accommodation with beds on gallery level. Patio for lunch or early evening drink whilst you gaze over the valley and decide which of the recommended restaurants to try. The Ghiottone and Paolo's lived up to their reputation with great food and friendly hosts. You will need a car to find these, reach the local shop and explore the area. David and Pauline, who live on site have put a lot of effort into making the holiday experience easy right from the booking stage to the tips on travel and the car hire desk plus the very welcome bottles of wine, and beer after a late flight arrival and plenty of information on restaurants you would never know or find as well as how to get the most out of the area whether it is for lazy days or ventures further afield. Abruzzo has a natural charm far removed from the tourist trail. Enjoy.

If you are looking for a place to stay surrounded by beautiful countryside, a fantastic pool with a view, bright comfortable accommodation, obliging informative hosts then this is the place for you.
We have traveled a fair bit around Italy and I think this area of Abruzzo is the nicest area we have been to. Traveling through the hills every time you turn a corner you want to stop a take a photo.
The villages and the food and wine are just so 'Italian', tourism hasn't really caught up with this area and that's the charm of the place.
If you want a truly relaxing Italian experience, go and stay with David and Pauline at Villasfor2, we will be back without hesitation.

(We really enjoyed our stay in Villas for 2. David and Pauline made us very welcome and we were feeling really pampered. From the villa you can find many beautiful and interesting places to visit in the area. David always makes a detailed itinerary for you. The (sand) beach is not far away. We had a great swim in the pool and enjoyed the rest)

If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this is the place to go! We are just home from a totally relaxing holiday which was much needed. David and Pauline are perfect hosts who will go above and beyond their duty to help you have an amazing holiday. David's directions to and from airports (Rome, in our case) and local towns and restaurants are invaluable. Their recommendations were superb and you will be surprised how cheap the local restaurants are. It is untouched by tourism and everyone is extremely friendly (a special mention to Paolo who has a beautiful restaurant!). All your needs are catered for and it is very difficult to tear yourself away from the patio, the views are spectacular! Although a car is essential, it really is not difficult to access local shops, mountains and beaches. A fantastic lifestyle, can't wait to return! Wish we were there!!!

After having decided to go on holiday in the Abruzzo area we started looking on internet and we came across this place. We wrote an inquiry email and few hours later the booking was made!
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The house was practical and clean. The views and the swimming pool were great. David and Pauline were a great help to us in giving us advise to discover the region and the restaurants! We will certainly be back whenever we want to spend another relaxing gourmet holiday...

My wife and I, and another couple, enjoyed 4 nights at the lovely Villasfor2, as the other couple was researching their "roots". David and Pauline were amazingly friendly, helpful and instructive. Perfect for hosts to visitors unsure of the language and the location.
Each day was special as the small towns, wonderful restaurants and local sights were tackled one by one. And through it all, as a refuge from the activity was the perfectly peaceful patio at our Villa. From there, you could see much of the Abruzzo countryside with unobstructed views. We also used the fully stocked kitchen to make two dinners so we could sit on the patio and enjoy the lovely evenings with our friends. We felt we were in a private estate in the Italian Hills!
We totally enjoyed our stay at Villasfor2 and highly recommend it to anyone travelling to or through the Abruzzo region. Make sure to follow the restaurant suggestions that David and Pauline have in their well written booklet of everything to do in the area. Or just chat with them...as they are perfectly available and willing to help.
Thank you to David and Pauline for making our trip so memorable!

Believe the reviews that say David and Pauline have it right at VillasFor2...it is a lovely villa, in a delightful location - everything clean and welcoming, just right after a journey from the UK. Wine and beer to welcome the weary travellers, and excellent "pre-arrival" instructions and helpful hints. The "welcome book" is filled with helpful hints, clear directions and instructions (do your shopping at Scrizz - the ladies sing while stacking shelves!) Filling our days relaxing by the pool, and wandering the lane at night listening to crickets and watching fireflies...just magic. We didn't want to leave, and have already started planning our next adventure in Abruzzo. Thank you, David and Pauline!!!

The Villa was simply furnished and immaculate with wonderful views over the beautiful pool set amidst the olive groves. The Adriatic coast was about 1/2 hours drive, and the surrounding mountains (snow capped at the time of our visit in mid May) provided some inspiring drives, and a wealth of beautiful flowers including orchids, gentians etc. Mass tourism has passed the area by, and the many little hill towns and villages were quiet and charming. The owners were unfailingly helpful in providing any local information required.

We stayed at VillasFor2 in May 2010. Our original dates were cancelled due to the ash cloud problems and VillasFor2 were very understanding and accommodating in assisting us to rebook at no extra cost.
The web site description of our Villa was spot on, we found it clean, bright and furnished to a high standard. Everything we needed was on hand and good quality.
David and Pauline were excellent hosts, always available if needed and virtually invisable when not. Their local knowledge of the area and restaurants enhanced our stay immensely.
We would have no hesitation in returning to VillasFor2 again should we find ourselves in Abruzzo once more.

A wonderful stay in a really beautiful part of Italy. The villa had an exceptional view across rolling hills of vineyards and olive groves, while the villa itself was beautifully simple and well laid out.

Like the previous contributors, we too were looking at property in this part of Abruzzo during our stay. For the time of year, weather was fantastic. We were here four days and had warm sunshine throughout, though it was chilly at night and we were glad our villa had central heating. We both thought our villa was first class. Perfect for two, very comfortable, well furnished and equipped, and spotlessly clean. Very much liked the fact that things like tea and coffee are all part of the package. Saves buying stuff you'll only use a little of during your stay. Ate out a couple of times at places recommended by owners David and Pauline which were both very good (fantastic pizza !) and our other two nights stayed in and borrowed some DVDs. The pool area looked very inviting - hope we can come back sometime and try it out !

We stayed here for three nights on a trip to look at Abruzzo property. Our villa was delightful - clean and comfortable and the central heating worked extremely well. As other people have remarked, the views are truly spectacular. But not exactly the time of year to use the pool though ! Owners David and Pauline were most helpful with inside info on local property market and we must also mention a local restaurant called La Cena, where we had a really great meal on our last night. Hope to come back when it's warmer !
